Company Bio

First American traces its roots to 1889, when Orange County, California — a rural, undeveloped area at the time — split off from the county of Los Angeles. Two firms opened to handle title matters in the brand-new county. Five years later, C.E. Parker, a local businessman, succeeded in merging the two competitors into a single entity. He was named president of the resulting company — Orange County Title Company — the immediate predecessor to today’s First American Title Insurance Company, the largest subsidiary of First American Financial Corporation. During its first 70 years, the company’s growth paralleled that of Orange County — modest, but steady. It earned a reputation for diligence, thoroughness and friendly, personal service. In 1924, it became one of the first abstract companies in California to qualify to issue policies of title insurance.

Statement of Diversity

First American is committed to creating and promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment. Their goal is to recruit, develop, promote, and retain outstanding talent from a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives and skill sets. This diversity within the First American family not only allows them to better understand and meet the needs of customers and communities, but also helps increase operational flexibility, expand into new markets, and develop innovative products. First American knows that fostering a diverse and inclusive work place where employees feel there are no artificial barriers to the use of their talent and productivity is essential to the company’s continued success. This is why they strive to create a culture of inclusiveness in which every individual’s contributions are valued and respected, and where diversity of thought is not only accepted, but celebrated.
